The solitary goal came with the Real Madrid winger Takefusa Kuba in the 78th minute. The 20-year-old received the ball on the right edge of the 18-yard area, cut inside, and drilled it past Williams into the bottom left corner!
South Africa is in Group A with France, Mexico, and Japan. In the other group feature, Mexico went on top after thumping France 4-1 in the opening game. These results have placed South Africa in the 3rd spot of Group A after one game.
The camp of South Africa had two players and one technical staff who tested positive ahead of their opening match. Those two players are Thabiso Monyane and Kamohelo Mahlatsi. The other technical staff member was Mario Masha, who is a video analyst.
