New History, England reached their first euro final.
England has thrashed Denmark 2-1 to reach their Euro final at the Wembley Stadium.
Before this game England had never conceded a goal until Mikkel Damsgaard opened a scoreline in the first 30 minutes. Then in the 39th minute, 'the tables were turned' after Simon scored an own goal which took the game into extra time.
Harry Kane buried the game after receiving a penalty shot out in the 104th minute of extra time.
The Denmark coach, Kasper Hjulmand, said he was very disappointed about the decision of a penalty shoot out.
" First, I'd like to congratulate Gareth Southgate. He's a good coach, we were very disappointed and it was hard for me to talk about this. Maybe it'll be easier to say how I feel in the next few days. We were so close to reaching the finals, but they got a penalty that shouldn't be given. It's something that annoys me right now." Kasper said.
The England coach, Gareth Southgate, said they won a game with the strength of their bench. "In the extra time, I think we had fresher legs, more energy. Denmark has made a lot of changes earlier on and was not able to change later. The strength of our bench has been an asset. There are no questions about that. I think the depth of our squad and mentality is why we are where we are today." Gareth said.
Next, England will face Italy in the Euro final. This match will kick off on Sunday, 11 July 2021, at Wembley Stadium.
